Thought for October 2014

I often wonder if those in our churches where the Cross is rarely if ever mentioned are motivated by the fact that they do not like to think that the price of their Salvation has already been paid.

As John Stott puts it

"Proud human beings would give anything to earn their salvation or,if they cannot earn it, at least contribute to it; and when they are told it is a non-contributary gift of God, absolutely free and utterly undeserved, it is extremely humiliating to people's arrogant self confidence."
