Prayer for May 2014

Heavenly Father, in this month when the Church of Scotland meets in General Assembly, we pray for the Moderater, the team supporting this significant gathering and all of the Commissioners.  We ask that together, as Christ's body, they will honour our valued traditions of respect and honesty with a sense of compassion, reconciliation and the need to value diversity whilst continually being open to the renewing of your Holy Spirit.

Grant to all who assemble, the necessary patience, wisdom and the vision to see your church as one of your many great gifts.  Energise those commissioned to take the fruits of their deliberations forward, readily seizing the opportunity to develop a strong Christian community across the country with all its opportunities to bring harmony where differences are too often the cue for conflict.
